Playing Rocker at The Redbury

SO... We just want to know. Did you make the recent mondo-mega rockers-aplenty Sunset Strip Music Festival? If so, how close did you get to the loop-di-loop drum roller coaster? Pretty close? So close that you want one in your own backyard? Thought so. You can't see Tommy Lee on one of those things without deciding that laying into a kit while upside down would be a fine way to work out some weekday stress. But even if you can't get your 360-degree drum roller coaster any time soon, you can still play rocker for a night while paying homage to one of the men who kicked off a music movement. We're thinking of Buddy Holly, of course. The Redbury in Hollywood is honoring the 75th anniversary of the star's birth with a special package for fans. Because perhaps you've heard the big news: Buddy Holly will finally receive a Walk of Fame star on Sept. 7, 2011.

TWO DEALS: There are two rock-themed stay-over deals on at the Capitol Records-close hotel, actually. The first is the "Oh Boy" Buddy Holly Package, which includes a couple of "Peggy Sue"-ish CDs, an Amoeba gift certificate, and early check-in on Sept. 7th, which was the day Mr. Holly was born. There's other good stuff, so read on. The other package is the Gibson Unplugged. Lots of turn-it-up additions on this one, but the private tour of the Gibson Guitar Showroom in Beverly Hills is beyond primo. Check out prices and dates and the things you need to know before booking. And don't forget your horned-rims. Gotta have those.
