Coo over farm animals, sample local goodies, and get to know the bountiful region on Saturday, Oct. 14 and Sunday, Oct. 15.

EVERY SEASON HAS ITS EARLY HALLMARKS, and foretellings, and harbingers, but we seem to make verbal note of the coming of autumn more than any other time of year. It's just around August when people begin to talk of the change in sunlight, and the new softness found in the afternoon sunbeams, and how the very air just feels "different" (whether that's cooler or crisper is up to the air-feeler in question). WEEKEND ALONG THE FARM TRAILS... event. It's scheduled for the very middle of October 2017 — that's Saturday, Oct. 14 and Sunday, Oct. 15 — and a host of activities and demonstrations will reflect the bounty of fall. There shall be pumpkin patches to explore, and honey bees to observe, and baby beasties to pet and coo over, and cows to milk, and hay rides to enjoy, and eats to sample. True, many of these things happen all year long, but there's something so nostalgic and nice about savoring them in October. A beautiful bonus? A lot of the to-dos along the trails are free of charge, though, of course, keep some cash for those that do have a fee. And, just a thought: You may want to head home with a jar of local honey, or buy lunch, on your soft-of-sunlight, sheep-wool-wonderful field trip. Need more, like an interactive map? This is where your autumn adventure begins.
