1000 Hearts for 1000 Minds, volunteer tutors needed.

Tutors and mentors for 1000 K-8 public school students needed

Launched by the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, along with the City of San Jose, and endorsed by the Cities Association of Santa Clara County, 1000 Hearts for 1000 Minds endeavors to narrow the achievement gap in Silicon Valley by leveraging the creative energy of our workforce and residents – the world’s most innovative workforce and residents – to support our students who are struggling most in the core areas of literacy, math and science. The objective is to find 1000 caring adult volunteers to serve as tutors and mentors to 1000 K-8 public school students.

1000 Hearts for 1000 Minds makes it easy to turn a small amount of time into a big impact. Volunteers are asked to commit as little as one hour a week for as few as 8-12 weeks, but ideally for a full semester. Through our 15 non-profit partner programs, opportunities are available at times and locations convenient for everyone. In addition, all volunteers will be screened, trained, and supervised to ensure a rewarding experience.

1000 Hearts for 1000 Minds also highly encourages groups of volunteers. Special accommodations can be made for groups, such as on-site training and media opportunities.
