Summer Season Music in the Park in Downtown San Jose

Celebrate musical diversity this summer at Music in the Park in Plaza de Cesar Chavez, located in downtown San Jose. This event will feature a concert series of reggae on June 18, salsa on July 17 and the Los Lonely Boys are to headline August 28.

Kicking off the summer music season are two talented reggae performers. Afro-pop sensation Freshlyground from Capetown, South Africa is a seven-piece band known for its live performance energy. Singer, DJ, songwriter, actress, entrepreneur, educator, and Grammy award nominated reggae star Sister Carol of Kingston, Jamaica has 12 albums to her credit, including her latest, “Live No Evil.”

Then get ready to dance at a salsa show featuring two of the Bay Area’s top bands: Pa’l Bailador and Julio Bravo y su Orquesta Salsabor, performing on July 17. P’al Bailador, “The Dancer’s Salsa Band,” is a Bay-Area based super-group known for playing upbeat salsa music that keeps singles and couples on the dance floor all night. The 11-man group, Julio Bravo y su Orquestra Salsabor, is a unique blend of vocal styles and energetic danceable salsa that has earned them the title, “The Bay Area’s Top Salsa Band.”

And last but certainly not least, the Grammy Award winning band Los Lonely Boys –will close the series with their “Texican” brand of rock ’n’ roll from San Angelo, Texas, to downtown San Jose.  Los Lonely Boys combines elements of rock ’n’ roll, Texas blues, soul, country and Tejano.
