Exhibit Honoring World Series Champion Giants Opens Monday at the Hall of Fame

With three World Series victories in five seasons, the San Francisco Giants are turning the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum’s Autumn Glory exhibit into a regular orange-and-black update.

Beginning Monday, Nov. 24, the Museum will document the Giants’ most recent World Series title through Autumn Glory, the annual tribute to the World Series Champions in Cooperstown. As a primer for the exhibit opening and now available for viewing at www.baseballhall.org, a content package featuring an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the artifact acquisition process through videos, images and stories and the stories is now live at the Museum’s website.

Following San Francisco’s World Series-clinching win on Oct. 29, the Museum acquired several artifacts from the Giants, who notched the franchise’s eighth Fall Classic title with their victory over the Kansas City Royals in the 110th World Series. Artifacts donated by the Giants and featured in the exhibit celebrating the 2014 postseason include:

  •   Jersey worn by Giants’ catcher Buster Posey in Game 7

  • Bat used by Giants’ third baseman Pablo Sandoval in Game 7; Sandoval set a new Postseason record with 26 hits

  • Bat used by the Giants’ Hunter Pence in Game 6 of the World Series; Pence tied a Giants record with 12 hits during the World Series

  • Cap worn by Giants’ manager Bruce Bochy throughout the World Series

  • Cap worn by World Series MVP Madison Bumgarner in Games 1, 5 and 7

  • Spikes worn by Game 7 winner Jeremy Affeldt

  • The bat used by the Giants’ Travis Ishikawa to hit his walk-off home run in Game 5 of the NLCS

They will join three artifacts donated by the American League Champion Kansas City Royals:

  • The cap worn by Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura during his victory, and in tribute to Oscar Taveras, in Game 6 of the World Series

  • The cap worn by Royals pitcher Brandon Finnegan in Game 3 of the World Series when he became the first player to appear in the College World Series and the MLB World Series in the same year

  • The jersey worn by Royals manager Ned Yost in Game 4 of the ALCS when Yost became the first manager to win his first eight postseason games

The 2014 World Series exhibit in Autumn Glory will be on display through the conclusion of the 2015 Major League Baseball postseason. Entrance to the Autumn Glory exhibit is included with Museum admission.

Fans can experience Autumn Glory virtually through the Museum’s new web platform at www.baseballhall.org. Featuring unique photos of the heroes of the 2014 World Series, compelling videos and the backstory of artifacts’ journey to Cooperstown, the Autumn Glory package showcases the Hall of Fame’s fresh online look.

In 2015, the Museum will continue its salute to the Giants’ World Championship of 2014 with special programming to be announced in the spring.

The Museum collections contain many artifacts documenting the entire history of World Series and postseason play, including Don Larsen’s cap and Yogi Berra’s mitt from Larsen’s 1956 perfect game; Joe Carter’s bat from his Series-ending blast in 1993; the jersey David Freese wore when he hit his game-winning home run in Game 6 in 2011; and World Series rings from the last century of Fall Classic competition.
