The San Jose 408K “Race to the Row”

The 4th annual San Jose 408K “Race to the Row” returns this year on March 1st, 2015, with a special addition to the race, the Memorial Mile. Last year, World War II veteran Joe Bell donned his uniform and stood outside his home to cheer on runners as they passed through his Rose Garden neighborhood. Sadly, Mr. Bell has passed before this year’s “Race to the Row.” In his absence, race organizers have added the Memorial Mile, the 4th mile of the 8k course, near Joe Bell’s home where veterans and active military alike will encourage and cheer on the runners.

The San Jose 408K “Race to the Row” is an annual tradition that supports veterans and was established by a partnership with the Pat Tillman Foundation. The Pat Tillman Foundation, in honor of late NFL player and Army Ranger Pat Tillman, provides academic scholarships for military veterans and their spouses through the Tillman Scholars program. The San Jose 408 K “Race to the Row” has raised over $40,000 to support the Pat Tillman foundation and hopes to surpass $50,000 by race day.
