Claremont Hotel Opens New Restaurant Under Michelin-Starred Chef Dominique Crenn

Michelin-starred chef Dominique Crenn has opened Antoinette, a French brasserie, inside the renovated Claremont Hotel in Oakland.

Antoinette is a significant part of recent upgrades from the two-year-old Claremont's owners, FRHI Hotels & Resorts, which operates San Francisco's Fairmont Hotel. The hotel's 276 rooms and suites have also gotten a boost.

According to Eater SF, the restaurant occupies the former Claremont Club & Spa with a menu that utilizes rare French delicacies such as Brittany blue lobster alongside locally sourced fare like Liberty Farms duck. Crenn has hired chef Justin Mauz, who has previously worked for one of France's most acclaimed chefs, Joel Robuchon, to head the Antoinette kitchen.

Crenn also operates Atelier Crenn, her Michelin-starred flagship restaurant, and the more casual Petit Crenn, which opened in 2015 in San Francisco.

A book of Crenn's self-described "poetic culinaria," "Atelier Crenn: Metamorphosis of Taste," was published by Houghon Mifflin Harcourt in 2015.
