All kinds of people from all over the country get to appear on the Today Show every morning — on Friday, it was a teen from San Jose who popped a very important question on air.
Fifteen-year-old Willow Glen student Tyler Giddens was on vacation in New York City with his family when he asked Claire Busche — also 15 — to go to his high school homecoming dance next Saturday on national television.
And according to Tyler's dad, Claire said "yes."
Tyler's earnest request was captured on camera as he held up an Artskills Poster that read: "Homecoming, Claire????" followed by two little pink hearts.
"Claire will you come to homecoming with me back in San Jose, California?" the teen asked to loud cheers from the crowd at Rockefeller Plaza.
"Is Claire watching?" Today Show metereologist Dylan Dreyer asked Tyler. "Yes," he replied.
Tyler called Claire's mother the night before to make sure she was up early and watching the show, Tyler's dad said. "His inbox is overflowing with messages from his friends who saw it," he added.
