Treasure Island Music Festival Changes Scenery, Moves to Eastern Shore

The 10th annual running of the Treasure Island Music Festival will have a new backdrop.

A multi-million dollar construction project has shifted the October festival from the west side of the island to the eastern shoreline, which will display views of the San Francisco Bay Bridge's western span and the Oakland hills, according to a press release.

Despite the venue shift, organizers say the event, which is scheduled for Oct. 15-16, will not suffer. The VIP section will be beefed up and the venue's design will better facilitate the movement of attendees between various performance stages. A 60-foot-high ferris wheel and silent disco space will also be moved and housed on a pier that protrudes out above the Bay, offering a new viewpoint for concertgoers.

Featured artists for the 10th and final showcase on Treasure Island include hip-hop artist Ice Cube and Icelandic rock group Sigur Rós, according to the press release.

In an attempt to reduce traffic congestion, organizers are limiting the amount of available parking spaces on the island, according to the press release. Concertgoers are asked to take public transportation or catch provided shuttles that will carry attendees from the East Bay and San Francisco to the event.
