Police say a fan of Paula Abdul has been found dead in a parked car near a Los Angeles home that public records indicate belongs to the singer and American Idol judge.

Police spokeswoman Julianne Sohn says officers responded to a call about 6 p.m. Tuesday and arrived in the Sherman Oaks area to find an unidentified woman in her 30s.

Capt. Jim Miller tells KTTV-TV the woman had an infatuation with Abdul. He says the death is under investigation and appears to be a suicide.

Sohn could not confirm that the home belonged to Abdul, but public records show she owns a home near the site where the body was found.

A message left for Abdul's pubilicist Stephanie Sher was not immediately returned.
