Gary Coleman Not Arrested on New Domestic Violence Charge

“Diff’rent Strokes” star released on $1,725 bail

Watchu talkin’ ‘bout press?

Former child star Gary Coleman was arrested over the weekend on a warrant for failing to appear in court, not for a new domestic violence offence as many media outlets initially reported, cops say.

The 41-year-old “Diff’rent Strokes” actor was released from a Utah jail Monday after posting $1,725 bail, The Associated Press reported.

Santaquin Police Chief Dennis Howard told the AP that cops were dispatched to Coleman’s home Sunday afternoon on a domestic disturbance call.

But the actor was booked on an outstanding warrant that stemmed from a  Aug. 26, 2009 domestic violence charge, Santaquin City Attorney Brett Rich said. Coleman  is expected to next appear in court on Feb. 8, Rich added.

"This is a lot less serious than it seems," Coleman’s lawyer Randy Kester told People. "He was not arrested for assault."

Still, Coleman has publicly struggled with problems in his personal life over the last couple of years.

Last year, his wife, Shannon Price reportedly locked Coleman out of his home and was arrested herself for domestic violence.

"You deserve this after how you treated me!" she yelled at the time after ransacking the house, the New York Daily News reported.

Later, the couple appeared on “Divorce Court” but decided not to call their relationship quits.

Also in 2009, Coleman pleaded no contest to hitting a man with his car outside a Utah bowling alley and paid a $100 fine, according to the AP. He also reportedly settled a personal injury civil suit over the incident for an undisclosed payout.
