Jessica Simpson Heads to Jail — to Help Friend

Jessica Simpson headed to jail early on Friday morning – to try to bail out a friend.

According to TMZ and Us Weekly, Jessica's friend and makeup artist, Mary Phillips, was arrested in the wee hours of Friday morning after authorities received a disturbing the peace call from the Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood.

When Jessica reportedly headed to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department in West Hollywood to bail her friend out, she was turned away due to Phillips' alleged state of inebriation.

"She was arrested for being drunk in public, and she was not released to Jessica because you can't release someone who has not sobered up," LAPD deputy Aura Sierra told Us. "They're going to release her a little later when she's sobered up. I don't know what time that will be. It could be a minimum of 6 to probably 8 hours."

Phillips had been out with Jessica and hairstylist Ken Paves earlier in the evening of Thursday night – Jessica posted a Tweetphoto of the trio with the caption, "Sizzlin' w my peeps, pretty boy KP, lil' cholita… look out yo!!"
