Billy Bob Thornton's Daughter Gets 20 Years For Child's Death

Found guilty of aggravated manslaughter

Billy Bob Thornton's estranged daughter was sentenced to 20 years in prison for aggravated manslaughter in the death of her goddaughter.

Amanda Brumfield, 32, was acquitted from murdering 1-year-old Olivia Madison Garcia during an overnight stay in her Ocoee, Florida home in October 2008. She was, however, found guilty of the manslaughter charge in June, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Brumfield said the tot, friend Heather Murphy's daughter, fell and hit her head while trying to climb out of her playpen.

Murphy told the newspaper the sentence was "more than I expected," and felt "justice has been served." But she told reporters she was still emotionally distraught over the loss of her daughter, who would have turned four on Sept. 30.

"None of it satisfies me. It doesn't matter… I won't ever see Olivia again," she said, according to Reuters.

In addition to the 20-year sentence, Brumfield must pay a $10,000 fee for investigation costs.

Brumfield is Thorton's child with his first wife, Melissa Parish, according to TMZ.
