Jane Fonda: QVC Caved to Right Wing and Booted Me

It seems some still aren't so fond of Jane Fonda.

The 73-year-old Oscar-winning actress wrote in a post for entertainment website The Wrap that QVC cancelled an appearance by the actress because of pressure from U.S. "extremist" political groups. Fonda has never shied away from voicing her opinion on a number of political causes, including feminism and opposition to wars in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.

In this case, Fonda says it was her criticisms of the Vietnam conflict, of all aging causes, that irked QVC viewers.

“[QVC] said they got a lot of calls yesterday criticizing me for my opposition to the Vietnam War and threatening to boycott the show if I was allowed to appear,” Fonda said on The Wrap.

She went on: "I have never done anything to hurt my country or the men and women who have fought and continue to fight for us. I do not understand what the far right stands to gain by continuing with these myths."

Fonda was supposed to appear on the shop-at-home network to introduce and promote her new book, Prime Time, a text about aging gracefully.

A spokesman for QVC told Reuters that though he couldn't confirm any of Fonda's specific comments, a programming schedule change did cause Fonda to be booted from the day's programming.
