Scarlett Johansson Latest to Get Marine Ball Invite, Says No

In what has rapidly become a ridiculous game of one-upmanship, yet another Marine has posted a YouTube video asking for a celebrity date to the Marine Corps Ball.

This time around, Marine Corp Sgt. Dustin L. Williams asks out Scarlett Johansson with a music-heavy vid (Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger" and the Bee Gee's "Staying Alive" accompany Williams' request).

Unfortunately for Sgt. Williams, the "Avengers" star had to turn down his request to attend the November 10th event, but she didn't exactly leave him empty handed.

Johansson sent a case of champagne to Williams, who is stationed in Albany, Georgia, with the message:

"I feel incredibly honored to have been invited to the Marine Corps Ball by Sgt. Dustin L. Williams. Not only does Sgt. Williams deserve recognition for his bravery, selflessness and dedication to the United States and its people, but he also displays a cheeky talent for film making ... unfortunately due to prior commitments I will not be able to attend the Ball with you this year but I am sending you a case of Moet & Chandon with gratitude ..."

Probably cold comfort for the love-struck Marine, but a nice gesture.

Williams is the fourth Marine to use the Marine Corps Ball as an excuse to swing a date with a celebrity. After Sgt. Scott Moore successfully got "Friends with Benefits" star Mila Kunis to attend the ball with him, fellow Marines have attempted to win over Justin Timberlake and, inexplicably, Betty White.

So? Are we done, soldiers?
