Taylor Swifts Celebrates 20th Birthday With Generous Donation to Schools

Taylor Swift celebrated leaving her teen years behind with a holiday-themed party for her friends, band and tour crew – but the biggest gift of the night came from the singer herself.

According to People, the singer marked turning 20 by giving $250,000 to schools around the country that she's attended and worked with over the years.

"[It's] something I wanted to do at the end of this amazing year and especially on my birthday was give back to something I really believe in, which is education," Taylor told the mag. "The schools that I went to and the amazing people I got to learn from really turned me into who I am, and I wanted to give back."

The donated money will reportedly buy books for students, pay teacher's salaries and fund numerous educational programs.

As for her holiday-themed birthday party that Taylor baked dozens of butter and gingerbread cookies for, the singer said she's happy to combine the holiday spirit with her special day.

"It's more like an end-of-year Christmas party that happens to be on my birthday," she added.

No word if her good friend Taylor Lautner was in attendance.
