Uma Thurman Takes on New “Motherhood” Role

Uma Thurman may be a mother in real life but she's gearing up for "Motherhood."

The mother of two is starring in the new film "Motherhood," which grapples with the moms' concerns about raising their children and is a concept to which Thurman said she can relate,  according to The New York Times.

“Parenting is something you can’t delegate," Thurman said. "Yes, you can find help with the daily things, but that doesn’t release you from the guilt and anxiety and concern. Is there ever a time when putting your needs ahead of your children’s is acceptable?

"That is the overarching question.”

"Motherhood," written and directed by Katherine Dieckmann, shuffles through the psyche of moms and mom-to-bes and explores the struggle of mothers wrestling with the work-versus-family decision.

“Men can write great women’s movies, but I don’t think a man could write this movie," Dieckmann told the Times. "I don’t think any man can understand what it’s like to face the day to day the way a woman can, what it means for a woman to be compromised by domesticity.”

The new film features Eliza Welch, played by Thurman, running around New York City in her nightgowns, pajamas, sweatpants over pajamas, up and down her West Village walk-up apartment. Eliza supports her two children and politician husband who was forced to resign after a sex scandal.
