‘Dark Knight' Director's Next Project: ‘Inception'

“The Dark Knight” director Chris Nolan won’t be coming back to Gotham City right away.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, his next effort will be “Inception,” a “contemporary sci-fi auctioneer set within the architecture of the mind,” based on a script by Nolan himself.

The film is reportedly set to shoot this summer, with a release date planned for summer 2010.

That means it could be a while before the helmer can dig into Batman again, but it seems as if he’ll have the opportunity.

“We know he’s thinking about it,” Charles Roven, a producer on both of Nolan’s Batman films, told Access Hollywood last month. “We’ll know if he’s gotten to the end of that process when he tells us.”

The box-office smashing “Dark Knight” is nominated for eight Oscars at The Academy Awards ceremony on February 22.
