Country stars Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood mocked the botched Obamacare website rollout Wednesday during the opening of the 2013 Country Music Association Awards show.
Paisley said he injured his back while twerking and needed to see a doctor.
“Hey, do you have that Obamacare?” Underwood asked the country crooner. The audience hooted and hollered.
“It’s great. I started signing up last Thursday and I’m almost done,” Underwood quipped.
The duo went on to try getting Paisley signed for health insurance while singing George Strait’s classic, “Amarillo by Morning.” Only their version was entitled “Obamacare by Morning.”
“Why is it spinning,” Paisley asked Underwood when she pretended to log on to Healthcare.gov.
“Oh, it does that,” she said.
“Okay, but why is it smoking?”, Paisley asked again.
“Oh, I don’t know,” Underwood said. “Maybe we should restart it.”
The duo then started singing: “Obamacare by morning, why is this takin’ so long? I’m gonna wind up with hemorrhoids if I sit here till dawn, we’ll have cataracts and dementia, oh this is gettin’ on my last nerve, Obamacare by morning, over six people served.”
According documents released by Republicans on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, only six people signed up for President Obamas's signature health care law through the federal exchanges on the first day of operations.
Over a month later, the website is still experiencing technical problems. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius admitted to a Senate panel Wednesday that the chances for the site to be fixed by an end of November deadline aren’t good.
