Starring Gerwig, who also will serve as a writer, Nick D'Agosto, Anders Holm and Drew Tarver, "How I Met Your Dad" tells the story of how the free-spirited Sally, who, along with the help of her friends, found the father of her children, just as her first marriage is ending.

And narrating Sally's love story isn't Ryan's only new TV gig as the "When Harry Met Sally" actress is set to headline and executive produce a new, currently untitled, comedy for NBC.

In the series, Ryan will tackle the role of a devoted and nonconfrontational single mother who returns to her New York publishing house, where she was once a brilliant editor. Of course, things have changed since she left and her former intern is now her 30-year-old boss. Suddenly, she has to find a way to keep her neurotic boss, her teenage kids, her soon-to-be ex-husband and her overbearing mother-in-law happy, which always seems to lead to her overcomplicating every situation.
