Miss USA Discusses Breast Cancer Awareness

Miss USA Erin Brady is taking a break from preparing for the Miss Universe pageant to spread awareness about breast cancer.

The former Miss Connecticut will be attending the 2013 Komen Massachusetts "Race for the Cure" in Boston on this weekend where she will be on hand to encourage racers.

"As Miss USA, our platform is Breast Cancer and Ovarian Cancer awareness and education," Brady said in an interview with NECN. "The event is going to be held on Sunday and they are expecting a lot of people to go which is great. It's beautiful."

More than 7,000 people are expected to take to South Boston's Joe Moakley Park to participate in the annual 5K walk/run.

Brady was crowned Miss USA in June. Now, she is preparing to compete in the Miss Universe pageant on Nov. 9, where she will face off against women from all over the world.
