The numbers are looking good for Team Adam this season on "The Voice."

Team Adam emerged unscathed from Tuesday night's live eliminations — giving the Maroon 5 frontman a whopping three contestants still left standing in the Top 5.

And with the elimination of Team Christina's indie rock belter and erstwhile frontrunner Matthew Schuler, both Team Christina and Team Blake were down to just one member each. (Team CeeLo was already out of the running.)

But for all the nail-biting drama of the eliminations process, the night's performances were ones of holiday cheer — starting with one by Kelly Clarkson, decked out in a Christmas-worthy sparkly red dress, of "Underneath the Tree."

As for the coaches' spirits heading into the eliminations? "You have to be prepared for the best and the worst," Christina said. But Blake, who had just one member left on his team, was more sanguine: "It only takes one to win," he said, and he said he thought his team's Cole Vosbury could.

But when Carson Daly lined up the six remaining contestants on the stage and announced who was first to be saved by America's votes, it wasn't Cole's name he called. It was that of Jacquie, who ran and hugged her coach Christina in relief.

Cole, however, was the next to get Carson's reprieve — but not until after his coach had performed a countried-up cover of "Silver Bells."

After Cole, the welcome words of a reprieve came for Team Adam's Tessanne Chin — and finally, after her good news, for her teammate Will Champlin, who said their coach's best advice to him had been to "be original."

That left their fellow Adam protege James Wolpert, still under the weather, and Team Christina's Matthew in the bottom two — and waiting to be saved by tweeting fans via an Instant Save.

"This guy is one of the best singers I've ever been in a room with. I promise if you save him, you will not be sorry," Adam insisted.

Christina had her own praise for Matthew. "We have felt your magic in the air so many times. This is not over, guys," she told fans, before assuring Matthew, "you've left your mark on this competition, and I am not done with you."

Unfortunately, in season five of "The Voice" at least, she was. As James was saved — and gave a disbelieving gesture of relief — Matthew was relegated to a trip home.

Semifinals of "The Voice" begin next week.

"The Voice" airs Mondays at 8/7c and Tuesdays at 9/8c on NBC.
