Roman Polanski to Do Live Interview at SF Event

The director will be interviewed via Skype from

Roman Polanski is coming to San Francisco for a rare interview.

Digitally, of course.

The legendary fugitive film director -- who has lived in Europe since evading justice in the United States, where he was arrested in 1977 for statutory rape -- will do a live Skype interview April 6 with fans at the Roxie Theater in San Francisco, according to reports.

It's not known what the director will discuss, nor is it known who will ask him questions, according to the San Francisco Examiner.

But he'll be there! Via Skype, of course.

Polanski, who directed the Oscar-winning "Chinatown" and "Pianist" as well as "Rosemary's Baby" and many other films, has had a colorful personal life. His pregnant wife, Sharon Tate, was slaughtered in the Charles Manson murders prior to his legal issues. He was arrested in 2009 by Swiss authorities for the 30-year old fling with then-13-year old Samantha Geimer at the request of the United States, but then released.

Polanski will be interviewed via the Internet from Paris, where he's editing a film called "Venus in Fur," the newspaper reported.

Screenwriter Robert Towne, who wrote "Chinatown," will be onstage and will host a screening of that legendary film.

The weekend is all Polanski all the time, with screenings of "Repulsion" and "The Tenant" on April 5 following the "Chinatown" screenings on April 6.

The exact time of the Polanski interview, as well as ticket availability and pricing, is not yet known.
