A dance video playing with the sharp and steep angles of San Francisco hills has gone viral on YouTube.
In "Tilting the Streets of San Francisco (Gravity Illusions on Hills)," dancer Karen X. Cheng stars alongside the steep city and a cast of civilians in playing with gravity illusions and motion.
Director Ross Ching conceived the idea for the video after seeing photos on steep streets that had been treated with a "tilted camera" effect.
"The hardest part was coming up with ideas that made the gravity illusion look good," he wrote on the YouTube description. "We tried lots of stuff that we thought would look good but didn’t work for various reasons (balloons got blown away, pouring water wasn’t visible enough on camera, moonwalking looked weird at an angle). Our favorite effect is the pendulum!"
San Francisco has several streets angled at a 24-31.5% grade, according to statistics from the San Francisco Bureau of Engineering.
The playful video has received more than 358,000 views since it was posted on Monday.
