Pop star Justin Bieber explained what led him to break down into tears after his performance at the 2015 MTV VMA Awards.

“It was just so overwhelming for me,” Bieber said on the “Tonight Show” Wednesday.

Bieber said he wasn’t expecting support from the audience, especially after the reception he received at another awards show last year when he was booed by the audience.

“It’s gotta be tough,” host Jimmy Fallon said.

“What was so special about the emotional moment was it was authentic, it was real. I wanted it so bad."

Fallon and Bieber joked about the harness he was wearing during the performance before talking about behavior that got the singer in trouble last year.

“You have to test the waters. I just happened to be in the spotlight and in front of the cameras all the time,” he explained.

Bieber also revealed his latest album will be released on Nov. 13.
