“Goonies” fans may have reason to hope for a "Goonies" sequel.
Original cast member Corey Feldman, hinted that those originally involved in the 1985 movie--including writer Stephen Spielberg, director Richard Donner and actor Sean Astin--are interested in making another "Goonies" film
“I would do it if [the studio] was serious, but unfortunately they can’t seem to get it together,” Feldman told The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday.
“The No. 1 question that’s always been asked of me for the last 20 years is, ‘Will there be a sequel to “Goonies"?,’ and unfortunately my answer is always the same. It’s not up to me, you know, it’s the studio.”
Feldman, who played Mouth, also said that he would not want to be part of a remake of the film. He did talk about the movie turning into a theatrical work.
“They are talking about doing a Broadway musical and I know Richard Donner is really behind that,” he said. “He’s a dear friend of mine and we talk about it quite often and he said that they finally got a great script in which he’s very excited about.” Feldman added that he would be receptive to being involved with that version, although he admitted he would be too old to play young Mouth.
In addition to Feldman and Astin, “The Goonies” also starred Josh Brolin, Martha Plimpton, Jonathan Ke Quan and Jeff Cohen, who played the memorable role of Chunk.
