Reps for Van Sant confirmed to EW, that he's been approached, but Coppola and Condon's camps were not immediately available for comment. Summit declined to comment.

According to the mag, no director decisions will be made until screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg finishes her detailed outline for what is expected to be two movies. SPOILER! The fourth chapter in "The Twilight Saga" contains a graphic birth scene with Bella and Edward.

The third movie, "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," directed by David Slade, hits movie theaters on June 30. "Breaking Dawn" is expected in 2011.
