Mariah Carey may want to stop singing about her "baby," and start singing about her babies, plural. The 41-year-old songstress gave birth to twins on Saturday afternoon in Los Angeles, the Associated Press reported.
On her three-year anniversary with husband Nick Cannon, Carey had a baby girl weighing 5 pounds, 3 ounces, followed by a baby boy, who weighed 5 pounds, 6 ounces.
The family listened to Carey's "We Belong Together" after the babies were born, Carey's representative, Cindi Berger told People.
"I spoke to both of them and they are both completely overjoyed," Berger said.
Cannon had a funny feeling that the babies would be born on Saturday, People reported.
"I'm not trying to be a psychic, but we renew our vows every year, so … it's probably going to be in the hospital this year. I can feel it," Cannon said Thursday when he guest-hosted CBS parenting TV show "The Talk."
"We got the minister coming in, so this gown will not be a wedding gown, but a hospital gown."
After Cannon, 30, drove Carey to the hospital in their Rolls-Royce Phantom, he was so nervous he went to the wrong department at the hospital and was guided to the maternity ward by a nurse, Carey's representative, Berger said. "It was like right out of an 'I Love Lucy' skit."
The couple has not yet named the children, Berger told the AP. Cannon told People in January that he and Carey wanted unique but not weird names for their children. "They won't be crazy names like Carburetor or something," he promised. "But they're definitely unique."
