There was a stampede at a Canadian mall on Boxing Day, not because patrons were in rush to spend their holiday cash, but rather due to the appearance of a certain teen aged pop star with a moppish haircut.
A mob of tween girls rushed the Sunglasses Hut where the American Music Award winner was picking up several pairs of shades. A teenager bystander described the scene as chaotic.
"There were vases being broken, and people climbing over other people and a lot of screaming," said bystander Taylor Inder in an interview with the Waterloo Region Record.
Local law enforcement were called to disperse the crowd and ordered the Sunglasses Hut to shutter its doors while Bieber perused the wares.
"I thought, my God it's a 16-year-old boy who's shopping - what's the big deal?" said Hut manager Sarah Pelletier. "I was concerned because there was hundreds of girls out there and three police officers at my glass doors and I'm like, 'I don't think this is a good mix.'"
Pelletier said her main goal was to get the "Baby" singer in out and out quickly.
"I'm glad he supports his local economy and he said he keeps some of his money in Canada," she said.
