Katy Perry has opened up about her Christian singer-turned-sexpot pop idol past. But now her religious mom has something to say, too.
Mary Perry Hudson has been shopping around for a literary agency to publish a memoir about how her pop superstar daughter has impacted her mother's ministry and family, Page Six reports. And it isn't always positive.
"She loves her daughter very much and is very proud of her accomplishments, but disagrees with a lot of choices she makes in her career," the book proposal reads.
The "I Kissed A Girl" singer said she rebelled against her pastor parents. In her days as a blonde gospel singer going by her birth name, Katy Hudson, Perry told Rollingstone she lived a very different life in Santa Barbara, California.
"My religious upbringing was comically strict -- even the Dirt Devil vacuum cleaner was banned," Perry told the magazine last year. "In our house, no one was allowed to refer to deviled eggs. We had to call them angelic eggs."
Mrs. Hudson, however, wants to make it clear she is supportive of her girl and not taking advantage of her fame.
"This memoir is to set the record straight," the proposal reads. "It not Christian proselytizing or a Katy Perry tell-all. It is the story of Mary Perry Hudson."
While Hudson may not be a huge fan of Perry's provocative lyrics or risque outfits, she's happy to be goofy Russell Brand's mother-in-law.
"He loves kids, I just can't wait for them to have babies," Hudson gushed to People magazine at the Grammy awards this February about Brand. "Grandma, here we come!"
Co-writer T.L. Gray told Page Six that a couple of agencies have showed interest, but they have not signed on with anyone.
"Mary also just completed a Christian book called 'Joyful Mother' that will be released soon from Destiny Image… we've been playing around with a few different titles," Gray said.
