Singer Mindy McCready Pregnant with Twins

The country singer reportedly disappeared with her son after a visit with the boy's father

Country crooner Mindy McCready, who insists she did not kidnap her 5-year-old son, is reportedly expecting twins.

A Florida judge ordered McCready to return Zander by 5 PM Eastern Time Thursday after the troubled country singer took the boy without permission from his father's house on Tuesday.

McCready does not have custody of the child, her parents do, but she does have visitation rights.

Now, a rep for McCready tells People that the singer, 36, is five months pregnant with twins. The father of the babies is unknown.

McCready told Access Hollywood she is working with lawyers to get things involving her missing son "straightened out." According to The Associated Press, a missing persons report was filed by police. But Lt. Tony Sizemore of the Cape Coral Police Deparment told E! News they were not searching for McCready and her child.

McCready took to her Facebook page Tuesday in an attempt to clarify the situation.

"My son is not missing," she wrote. "[The] police established that this afternoon via Skype."

She went on to give some clues as to why she absconded with the boy.

"I have been fighting the Florida court system to protect my son, and bring him home," she posted. "Please do not worry."

Earlier today, she emailed Access Hollywood, claiming she's "working with lawyers to try to get all this straightened out" and further refuting the report that police were calling it a missing persons case.

“I did not steal my child, as it would be impossible for me to kidnap what already belongs to me!" she continues. "There never was any missing persons report and never an Amber Alert.”

The 36 year-old McCready has a history of personal problems, including drug and alcohol abuse, rehab stints, and an alleged suicide attempt. She was also involved in a scandalous, headline-grabbing relationship with baseball star Roger Clemens. Allegations were made that Clemens began cheating on his wife with McCready when she was 15 years old. McCready later confirmed that she and Clemens were close during that time, but the relationship did not become sexual in nature until several years later when she was older.

In 2005, Billy McKnight, the father of McCready's son, was arrested and charged with attempted murder after beating and choking McCready.

McCready has had 12 singles on the Billboard Country charts, including the number one hit "Guys Do It All the Time," as well as "Ten Thousand Angels" and "A Girl's Gotta Do (What a Girl's Gotta Do)."
