“Love it! “I’ve never seen anything cause so much controversy. I think it’s genius. The fact that everyone’s getting upset about it is hysterical. Any song to do with the weekend annoys you. It reminds me of "Saturday Night," do you remember that song by Whigfield? It’s what we call a ‘hair-dryer song,’ a song girls sing into their hair dryers as they’re getting ready to go out. But the fact that it’s making people so angry is brilliant.”
Black’s video for the song has been a viral sensation online and the subject of intense dislike from others. She appeared on “Good Morning America” to defend the track. “Even a person who doesn’t like it — it’s going to be stuck in their heads, so that’s the point of it. It’s a catchy song,” she said.
As of today, the video for “Friday” has gotten over 19 million visits on YouTube.
