Kate: Reality Bites, Sometimes

Can't see reconciliation with Jon, ever

Reality TV mom Kate Gosselin said being a tabloid star has changed her life, and not always in a good way.

In an interview on ABC's "Live with Regis and Kelly," the mother of eight described the surreal experience of standing in line at the grocery store and watching other moms read about her in supermarket tabloids. Once, she even struck up a conversation with a checkout reader.

"I didn't know I had Botox," she recalled telling the startled shopper.

Being a household name has changed everything, she said, "some for the better, some for the worse.

"If you don't laugh, you'll just cry."

As for Regis' well chronicled query about whether kate will ever reconcile with Jon Gosselin, who has been going through babes faster than a rock star having a midlife crisis, she didn't seem as shocked as earlier reports suggested.

"I think the separation is going to come to an end," said Regis Philbin, who admitted he "was unaware" of the TLC show "Jon & Kate Plus 8." "I think he's going to come back, say he's sorry and that he wants to marry you again. What do you think of that?"

"Wow," said Gosselin, just before the show cut to a commercial break.

When the show returned and Philbin pressed harder, Gosselin said she wouldn't talk about the prospect of patching things up with Jon Gosselin.

"I don't think I can answer that," she said. "A lot of our lives are public, but a lot is private."

Philbin said he thought the problems between the two prodigious parents would go away if the show ended, but Gosselin didn't seem so sure.

"I can't say that I think you're right, at all," she said.
