“Daily Show” Alum Rob Corddry Strikes Deal for Comedy Pilot

Corddry to star as dad in "unconventional family comedy"

Former “Daily Show” comic Rob Corddry has inked a new Internet and TV deal with Warner Bros. that lets him begin shooting his own comedy show in December, Variety reports.

The actor also known for roles on “Arrested Development” and “Old School” will produce and star in what he’s calling an “unconventional family comedy” to be shopped to the networks. He'll play the father.

"It's a weird world kind of comedy,” Corddry told Variety. “Like in the movie 'The Invention of Lying,' it will be set in a world that doesn't run by an exact rule.

"Whether it will be one minute or 22 minutes, we're going to shoot until the money runs out,” he said.

As part of the same deal, a successful Web series Corddry made for TheWB.com, “Children’s Hospital,” will extend its run on the Cartoon Network.

The hospital parody 5-minute shorts will be repackaged for the network’s “Adult Swim” program, which targets grown-ups.
