The Disney Channel promises not to leave "Sonny with a Chance" fans hanging while star Demi Lovato takes some personal time.

The 'tween comedy show is undergoing a script adjustment to focus on its show within a show, "So Random!", while Lovato is absent from the set and is recovering in rehab.

The adjustment "allows [Demi] the time she needs to get well, without the distraction or pressure," a Disney Channel spokeswoman told Variety. "Again, we extend our ongoing support to Demi and her family as she works to overcome emotional issues."

The 18-year-old Disney star dropped out of her tour with the Jonas Brothers to seek help for "emotional and physical issues" in a treatment facility earlier this month. The pressure of stardom and concern with body image had been eating up the actress for years, but People reported that fight with a female dancer pushed her to seek help.

"Sonny" was picked up for a third season and the producers plan to keep the show running with a plot that revolves around writing "So Random!" sketches. There will be guest stars, musical performances, and digital shorts, the producers said.

Although there's no set time for Lovato's return, producers told Variety they hope the temporary solution will keep the show going through January, as planned, until she comes back. Then things will pick up where they left off.

In the show, Lovato stars as Sonny Munroe, a Midwestern teen who moves to Los Angeles when landing a role in her favorite comedy sketch series.
