‘Glee' Star Cory Monteith Shoots Down Romance Rumors With Co-Star Lea Michele

Cory Monteith and Lea Michelle's "Glee" characters may share an uncomfortable budding romance on-screen, but as far as Cory is concerned, any off-screen relationship with his co-star could be equally awkward.

"That seems like it would be tricky," Cory, who plays football star-turned-glee-club member Finn, said of any real-life dating of his fellow castmates, according to People. "That seems really difficult."

The 27-year-old continued, shooting down any rumors of a possible romance between himself and Lea, who plays the uptight but talented Rachel Berry on the hit FOX show.

"We're great friends. We've become really close over the show, but we're just friends," Cory said. "We're not dating."

On the show, Rachel is forever aiming for Finn's heart, much to the dismay of his cheerleader girlfriend Quinn Fabray (Dianna Argon), who is dating Finn but secretly (for now) pregnant with his teammate Puck's (Mark Salling) baby.

But as far as Salling is concerned, every rumor out there is accurate.

"It's all true. Every little word is true," he joked. "Every little thing you read in those magazines is true. Spot on."

In related "Glee" news, Taye Diggs, the husband of Lea-look-a-like Idina Menzel, recently spoke with Fancast, saying that he knows his wife is a huge fan of the show and would definitely be interested in playing the part of Rachel's biological mom.

"I know that she would love that," Diggs said. "[Appearing on 'Glee'] would be awesome.

Many Broadway fans have made the connection between Lea and Idina, because of their similar looks and the fact that they're both Broadway leading ladies.

Lea was the female lead in "Spring Awakening," and Idina won the Best Actress Tony in 2004 for originating the role of Elphaba in "Wicked" – Lea later sang "Defying Gravity" from "Wicked," on "Glee," perhaps a harbinger of things to come.
