The Investigative Unit has discovered the Kauai Fire Department has sent rescue crews to more locations last year than it has in previous years, and more resources are being utilized despite an annual increase in tourism of only five percent. Most emergency medical calls are for search of person on land, surf rescue, and search for person in water. Historically, Hanakapi’ai on the North Shores also see the highest number of people in distress.
