Rod Blagojevich's wife, Patti, may be a contestant on "I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here."
Rod can't do it, but Patti will.
All signs point to Patti Blagojevich starring this summer in the reality show "I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here."
A federal judge denied a previous request by the former governor himself to make the trip to South America for the show, but -- so far -- there's nothing barring his wife from taking part.
Geoff Glick, a producer for NBC Chicago, noticed the former Illinois First Lady early Monday morning at the Klucznyski Federal Building.
"She was having an expedited passport processed," Glick said.
Patti Blagojevich reportedly kept to herself and did not speak to others waiting in line.
Sorosky says, while he "urged her not to do it, they need the money."
While she's in Costa Rica filming the show, Sorosky said, it's likely that the former governor will be the "stay-at-home dad," raising their two daughters.
Blagojevich faces federal charges
, accusing the impeached governor of "pervasive fraud" that began even before he was elected to his first term. Prosecutors say he tried to sell the Illinois U.S. Senate seat previously held by President Barack Obama.
Patti Blagojevich has never been one to seek publicity -- in fact she rarely did interviews while the First Lady of Illinois. But, with her husband's upcoming trial and limited resources, apparently she's decided it's the best source of income.
Patti has been unemployed for several months after losing her job at the Christian Industrial League shortly after her husband was arrested.
NBC has not confirmed the former First Lady's participation in the show, but her passport will be ready for travel soon.
