Ex Yankee Leyritz Weepy Over Weekend in Jail
A Broward judge rules to resume bond case next week, leaving Leyritz stuck in jail for another weekend

Former Yankee Jim Leyritz broke down in tears in a Florida courtroom after a judge ordered him to stay in prison through the weekend on charges he beat his ex-wife.
Broward Judge Marc Gold made the decision Thursday to suspend Leyritz's hearing after testimony from his ex-wife and police officers who arrested the former Major Leaguer on July 2 after his ex-wife accused him of domestic abuse.
Leyritz didn't take the news very well and visibly cried at the prospect of spending another weekend behind bars. Leyritz became angry, cursing under his breath and then sobbing.
"I'm never going to get out," he said through tears, according to the New York Daily News. "This is not fair. This is not justice."
"If anything happens to my kids," he warned to the court as he was led away in handcuffs.
His accuser, Karrie Leyritz, was in the courtroom. One of the officers testified that he saw dried blood running down the cheek of Karrie Leyritz, who said her ex-hubby beat her.
"I got knocked in the face twice that I can remember," Karrie Leyritz testified.
Leyritz was already out on bond pending the outcome of his 2007 DUI manslaughter case, which has also seen Leyritz have several run ins with the law.
Earlier this year, he was arrested for violating the terms of his bond when prosecutors found out he was still drinking alcohol. He was released on a technicality. Only a few months later, police responded to Leyritz's Davie home after a friend called and said he was going to kill himself. He was admitted to a hospital for evaluation.
But questions surround whether Leyritz is the suspect or a victim in this case. Even the judge that revoked Leyritz's bond said Karrie Leyritz's account of what happened contained several contradictions that almost made the story unbelievable. She gave officers three different accounts of what happened.
If Gold doesn't side with Leyritz, he will have to stay in jail until his Sept. 14 trial date on the DUI manslaughter charge.
But for now, Leyritz will be making nice with other prisoners in the Broward jail, patiently waiting for another turn at bat.
