Move over Gilroy, there is a new outlet mall in town.
The Paragon Outlets Livermore Valley opened its doors Thursday and people flooded in by the thousands.
Traffic on nearby I-580 started backing up for the 10 a.m. grand opening. The parking lot was filled to capacity by noon.
Paragon is the first new outlet mall to open in California since 2001.
The $150-million, 543,000-square-foot outlet center has 130 stores.
“Paragon Outlets Livermore Valley is one of only five outlet centers that will open in the United States this year,” Paragon Outlet Partners Principal Robert A. Brvenik said in a press release.
And apparently outlet shopping isn't just a daytime event anymore. The mall will be stay open until 11 p.m. on Thursday and midnight on Friday and Saturday of its grand opening weekend.
The anchor stores are Bloomingdale’s, Last Call by Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH.
All of the above are open for business and all promise savings of 25 to 65-percent discounts every day.
