Apple Cars? Speculation Grows After Hiring of Chrysler Executive

Apple's recent hire of a prominent automobile executive has sparked rumors that the company wants to make its own cars.

Former Fiat Chrysler Senior Vice President of Global Quality Doug Betts declined to comment on his new job at Apple when asked by Wall Street Journal.

But TechCrunch noted that Betts' LinkedIn profile, since deleted, listed his new gig at Apple as being in operations and may have been hired to oversee the quality of an existing product ("something we hear is likely").

With Apple remaining mum for the moment, the idea of the tech giant creating cars is still in the realm of the theoretical.
