Fast Food Valet: Construction Spurs Shopping Center to Provide Free Parking Service, Even for Taco Bell

You can now valet your car and grab Taco Bell in the East Bay.

The service is part of a push to keep customers coming while construction is underway at a Walnut Creek shopping center.

During a massive $18 million renovation project at the Encina Grande Shopping Center, customers can get their car parked, even for a Taco Bell run. The valet service is also available for customers visiting other merchants in the center like Rocco's Pizza.

"Our center is being impacted," said Rocco Viale, who owns the pizza restaurant. "Parking is extremely limited."

The valet service has helped keep business steady, Viale said.

"We really haven't noticed any impact on our business to the negative at all," Viale said.

Four other massive commercial projects are underway, including the Orchards project on Ignacio Valley, two new buildings on Mount Diablo and the Broadway Plaza renovation in downtown, which also offers free valet.

Residents said the valet service is a great addition.

Valet at the Encina Grande Shopping Center will be free for the next eight months while construction is going on. The service is available from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5 to 10 p.m. daily.
