Holiday Hiring Could Reach Highest Level Since 1990s: Report

Holiday hiring could reach its highest level since the 1990s, according to a report.

UPS is expected to hire about 95,000 seasonal workers this holiday season, and it is not the only company expected to hire lots of workers.

Toys “R” Us plans to double its workforce, while Macy's, Amazon and Walmart all are expected to hire 60,000 to 90,000 extra workers.

"We're going to be ready," UPS spokesman Dan Thomas said. "We're going to be staffed. We're hiring a ton of people for this operation."

Some of the 800,000 jobs added will include some clerical, shipping and IT staff too.

And one job search firm estimated 40 percent of the companies hiring for this holiday rush plan to make those positions permanent.
