SF Restaurant Locanda Designs Condom for Valentine's Day

Locanda will offer 'Locondoms' on Feb. 14

A San Francisco restaurant is getting heavily involved in the act of lovemaking this weekend.

Locanda, an Italian restaurant in the Mission District, has made custom "Locondoms" to give away on Valentine's Day, according to Thrillist.

The idea came from a brainstorming session during a staff meeting.

Laughed owner Craig Stoll: "Our meetings tend to get tedious and devolve into things like this!"

They were able to easily find a bespoke condom manufacturer online and ordered two batches of 350 Locondoms, which will be scattered in bowls throughout the restaurant on Valentine's Day, "like Halloween candy."

"We're not sure what the signs will say yet," he said. "Maybe, 'Do it gladiator-style!'

Stoll admitted that he is not a fan of the prix fixe menu gouging that tends to occur in the restaurant industry on Valentine's Day. Instead, Locanda diners will order from an à la carte selection of what he calls "sexy foods" and slip a Locondom into their doggie bags.

"You know how it's so cheesy how ladies are given a rose at a restaurant on Valentine's Day?" he asked. "This is our answer to that."
