San Jose Wingstop, Pizza Restaurant Prepare for Busy Super Bowl Day

Sunday is also the Super Bowl of food service for those who sell chicken wings and pizza.

The Wingstop restaurant in San Jose is preparing for Super Bowl Sunday, its busiest day of the year, according to the manager. And already Sunday, sales were hotter than habanero sauce.

The Wingstop on Coleman Avenue already called in extra employees Saturday, and the manager said all 16 employees will be working to fill the orders on the day of the big game.

While they have already received dozens of prepaid orders, they are bigger than usual.

"We have family packs, and we have orders for 200, 500 ,600 wings," Wingstop manager Mayra Gaytan said.

Gaytan's said she is expecting dozens of people to come in the morning to place order for wings.

According to a report from the National Chicken Council, Americans are expected to consume over 1.2 billion chicken wings Sunday. And to put that in perspective, that is enough wings to circle the Grand Canyon 120 times.

Bibo's New York Pizza in Willow Glen is also gearing up for a big day. They plan to make 150 pizzas Sunday.

"A lot of boxes being made, we ordered a lot of backstock," owner Freddie Elian said. "We got extra cheese and toppings, and we plan to have two people working the phones, so we can get those pizzas out tomorrow."

He said the better the Super Bowl matchup, the more pizzas people order.
