Starbucks Will Close La Boulange's 23 Bay Area Stores

Twenty-three La Boulange shops in the Bay Area will soon close, a decision made by parent company Starbucks.

La Boulange products will still be sold in Starbucks locations, the company said in a statement.

Starbucks paid $100 million to buy the San Francisco company in 2012, according to SFGate.

The most recent La Boulange location opened in San Francisco in January 2014 and was the company's 14th location in the city. There are also stores in Burlingame, Palo Alto, Mill Valley, Novato, Danville, Walnut Creek and Lafayette.

As the pastries fall, alcohol is a rising priority for the coffee titan. Starbucks continues to experiment with locations that serve wine, beer and appetizers: A new location hawking these items is planned for San Francisco.
