Take Flight with Aircraft Convention in South Bay

80 aircraft on display at San Jose Convention Center

The economy may be in the middle of a nosedive, but the lucrative airplane market is flying high in the Bay Area.

The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association Expo started Thursday in San Jose and will end on Friday.

The event features more than 80 aircraft on display, 600 exhibitor booths and 60 hours of aviation seminars.

The seminars focus on helping pilots improve their skills and helping people who want to buy planes.

AOPA officials said the event lets attendees gather information on cutting-edge technology, see product demonstrations and view more than 60 new-model aircraft.

People also will be able to to step inside the cabins of some of the best-selling new aircraft in the industry.

The San Jose Convention and Visitors Bureau is hosting the event at the San Jose convention Center.
