Tech Migrates Back to South Bay

More technology companies are targeting South Bay cities like Cupertino, Sunnyvale and San Jose

The offices of Intelicare Direct are busy.

Filled with boxes, workers drilling holes, and lots of people training.

The company isn’t even open yet, but it’s getting ready. The startup is about to hire 130 people.

Immediately.

Intelicare, like Apple, Google, LinkedIn and many other tech companies, is making a move to the South Bay.

Why the South Bay?

“It’s where the action is, right now,” says Tech historian Michael Malone.

After a decade spent moving north to San Francisco, the tech industry is making its biggest move South since the days when chips ruled the industry.

Now, it’s about hardware and manufacturing, “good middle-class jobs,” says San Jose Director of Economic Development Kim Walesh.
