Verizon Signals It Could Hire 700 Workers in San Jose

Cell carrier signs deal on office complex in North San Jose

Verizon is sending strong signals that the cell carrier has a future in North San Jose.

The telecom giant has signed a lease on office space where it could employ as many as 700 people, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

Developer Bixby Land is responsible for the 250,000-square foot office complex, half of which will be Verizon's, the newspaper reported.

Terms of the lease were not reported -- though the $26 million renovation of the property did construct bocce ball courts and other amenities like fire pits that the modern worker requires.

One building at the complex is still available, the newspaper reported.
