Black Bear Breaks Into Lake Tahoe Home

A Lake Tahoe family is resting easier after a scary encounter with a black bear that broke into their home in Incline Village.

Washoe County sheriff's spokesman Bob Harmon says a woman and her son had to lock themselves in different rooms for safety's sake Tuesday morning after the 200-pound bear broke through a screen in the kitchen.

Harmon says deputies fired rubber bullets to frighten the bear and it fled into the nearby woods behind the home on Dale Drive.

No one was hurt. State wildlife officials haven't been able to find the bear.
